Liberian Elections Set for October 10: Voters to Choose President and Legislators


The West African sub-regional body, the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) and the United Nations (UN) have condemned the killing of three persons in the Foya District of Lofa County, Liberia, as a result of political clashes between supporters of the ruling Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) and the opposition Unity Party (UP).

Three people were killed in clashes in Liberia between supporters of the country’s two main political parties ahead of next week’s elections,the ECOWAS has extended it deepest condolences to the families of the deceased. 

 

In an important development, Liberians are gearing up for the upcoming elections scheduled for October 10, where they will cast their votes to select both the nation’s president and representatives for the lower and upper houses.

 

Furthermore, authorities have applauded the Liberia National Police (LNP) for their swift response in restoring peace following recent disturbances. They have also called upon the LNP to carry out thorough and unbiased investigations, share their findings with the public, and ensure that those responsible for the disruptions are brought to justice.
